People often says does my stateroom really matter? Yes, yes it does! I love cruising and there is something for everyone but sometimes getting the right stateroom can make or break your trip!
One of the things Picture Perfect Adventures loves most about cruising is how quickly it feels like home. Your stateroom isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s your retreat after a day of exploring, your quiet morning coffee spot, and your cozy movie night corner with the kids. But with so many choices, how do you know which one’s right for you? That’s what I’m here for.
Choosing the right stateroom can truly shape your cruise experience. From interior rooms to balcony suites, each offers its own unique blend of comfort, convenience, and style. And every cruise line puts its own spin on what those spaces look and feel like—from family-friendly layouts to modern design details that maximize space. Let’s take the guesswork out and help you discover the stateroom that fits your travel style best.

Interior, Oceanview, or Balcony: What’s Best for You?
The first step is to consider what kind of experience you want while onboard.
Interior Rooms
If you plan to spend most of your time enjoying the ship’s entertainment, excursions, and dining, a simple interior room might be all you need. These cozy cabins are quiet, restful, and perfect for catching up on sleep after full days of fun.
Oceanview Staterooms
Oceanview rooms give you a window to the world—literally. If you love the idea of waking up to a peaceful view of the water, but don’t need the outdoor space of a balcony, this is a wonderful option that balances comfort and value.
Balcony Rooms
Looking for your own slice of serenity? Balcony rooms offer just that. Imagine sipping coffee on your private veranda or watching the sunset with a glass of wine in hand. It’s ideal for travelers who enjoy a little more space and a front-row seat to the sea.
If nothing else I need a balcony, I am that person - I can't stand to feel trapped and not be able to feel the air and hear the ocean on a balcony. I did try an oceanview and it was just not my cup of teal but everyone has their preferences and all that matters if are you happy with your choices.
Special Stateroom Categories: Family Suites, Concierge, and More
Cruise lines often offer upgraded stateroom categories to meet the unique needs of different travelers.
Family suites provide extra room to stretch out, often with amenities tailored for little ones. Couples looking to unwind might enjoy romantic suites with cozy nooks and scenic views. And for those craving a little more pampering, concierge-level rooms are a favorite.
My favorite stateroom ever has been on Regent Seven Seas Grandeur. This ship has all veranda's and suites. The Serenity Suite is a suite where a bit of extra space goes a long way. With a stylish living area that includes a sitting area, walk-in closet and dual sinks in the bathroom, a shower, and soaking tub what else could be better.
Location, Location, Location
Where your stateroom is on the ship matters just as much as which category you choose. Mid-ship cabins tend to offer the smoothest ride—great if anyone in your group is prone to motion sickness. Rooms near elevators or dining areas are super convenient but may come with more foot traffic. If you’re seeking calm, consider a room tucked away from busy zones.

Personalizing Your Experience
Part of the joy of cruising is that you can make your experience entirely your own. Whether it’s requesting extra pillows, booking a crib for your toddler, or decorating your door to celebrate a birthday or first cruise, there are so many little ways to make your stateroom special. It’s more than a room—it’s a space where memories are made.
Final Thoughts: Make Your Stateroom Your Sanctuary
Choosing your stateroom isn’t just a checkbox on your planning list. It’s an opportunity to shape your vacation to reflect your family’s needs, routines, and travel style. Whether you go for a cozy interior room or a concierge suite with all the extras, your stateroom should be a place of comfort and joy.
